North Las Vegas police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting that left one person dead on Sunday night.

Kerry Brock, 42, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on the 2100 block of Venus Avenue, near Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue. He was booked in the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of murder with a deadly weapon for the death of a 39-year old man.

Police originally responded to reports of a shooting on July 8 at a convenience store on the 2100 block of Cheyenne Avenue just before 11 p.m.

Officers said a verbal fight between Brock and the victim escalated into a shooting. The unidentified victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Brock had fled the scene before police arrived.

The Clark County Coroner's office will release the identity of the victim after family notification.
